Rory's Baptism

Went to Texas for my granddaughter's 8th birthday and her baptism. Her birthday
was Nov 4. I had a very nice visit. We had a lot of fun. We celebrated her birthday
for 3 days. One day she took some friends to an inflated jumping gym and had a sleep
over. The next day was the baptism and her party at home with gifts. The next we
went to Austin and went to the Zoo. I was exhausted when I got home. Here is Rory and my grandson Spencer having fun as usual.

VA State Fair

Great day at the fair. Did a lot of walking, saw lots of interesting things and saw some
good shows. This is the K-9s in Flight show. They caught frisbees, jumped high and
dove into the pool in the background. There were a lot of kangaroos and animals from Australia and this lady gave info
on them I had never heard, such as a kangaroo produces 2 types of milk one for new
baby and one higher in fat for older joey.

I was amazed with these spotted piglets. I have never seen any like this before.

I loved this little chick. He stood out in the crowd. Punk hair was cool.

Giant Pumpkin weighed 1,019 lbs.

I bought a new umbrella and a few decorations to brighten up my deck. I'm
hoping this will encourage me to sit outside more especially with some shade.

Hurricane Irene

Two trees were uprooted in my front yard. The wind lasted about 6 hours. The trees
were the worst that happened except for the power going off, which means no water from
our well. We managed to cook breakfast thanks to our gas stove. I felt like a pioneer
cooking by lamplight. Makes you appreciate what you have. We are blessed to
be safe.

Brian's Wedding

My son Brian was married yesterday. His children Chelsea and Brian with Ann's
children Allison and Dustin stood with them as they were married. After this sweet embrace, Brian (Groom) pulled her hair. He can't stop
teasing for a minute. It was cute

Pioneer Day in Texas

I went with Brooke and her family to the Pioneer Day celebration. There was lots of
fun, food, music and fireworks. Had a great time celebrating the Mormon Pioneers
arriving in Salt Lake. I am now back home in Virginia.

We took a ride through the Texas countryside. We went to Enchanted Rock just out
of Fredricksburg, TX

We saw lizards and followed summet trail up the hill. It was a lot steeper than it

looked from the bottom.

We got a good workout.

See, STEEP!!! I was afraid we would slip and roll to the bottom.

My son JT was made a Missionary and is leaving tomorrow for Buenos Aires Argentina.
I am so happy he wants to share the Gospel with others and wants to serve the Lord.

Christmas Family and Fun 2010

My family get together. My son JT enjoying his last Christmas home for 2 years while he goes on his Church mission to Euruguay. My grandchildren Gabby, Rory, Brian and Josh getting to know each other since they

live far away from each other.

A little warmth and laughter was had by all. We had a White Christmas this year which is very rare here.

Then Brooke's family and JT and I went to DC. We did some sight seeing and endured some chilly weather.

JT was glad to take a break.

While on our break and having a snack a squirrel decided it wanted our food.

Called To Serve

My son JT was just called to serve the Lord on a mission in Uruguay for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They don't know whats in store for them. They have never met anyone like him I bet. I know he will serve whole heartedly. Way to Go JT!!!!

I work at Mt Vernon. It is a beautiful place to work and I enjoy working there. Today was my day off and I went there today too. I wanted to go on the National Treasure 2 tour. I also wanted to go on the forest trail and get some exercise. I had a great walk (workout). There are some steep climbs. Here are some of the sights there.

BYU-Idaho

Dropped JT off Monday at BYU-I. It was a long and busy trip. We drove from Salt Lake City
and most of the way all you saw was mountains and sage brush. We stopped in
Idaho Falls and had lunch. The towns are pretty with the added trees and flowers.

Ohio Summer Fun

My summer vacation was a trip to Ohio to get together with my daughter Brooke and her family from Texas. Here are my grandchildren Rory and Spencer entering the Cleveland Zoo. There were some very colorful dinosaurs there. Rory is such a diva!! Spencer just doesn't care. We went for a nature walk in a field of flowers. The kids weren't too happy about it but it was a chance to burn up some of their energy.

Family Get Together

I drove to Cleveland, Ohio to get together with Brooke and her family. She lives in Texas and it was a chance to see her without going so far. I only get to see them a couple of times a year.
Here are my grandchildren. Rory age 6 and Spencer age 4. We went for a walk in the park. On the drive to the park we saw this man looking for a job as a plumber. He
was holding a huge orange cardboard pipewrench in his hand.

We went to the Cleveland Zoo. Here Brooke and the kids are finding out how

kangaroos hear with their ears.The zoo has a place to visit australia and there we met this camel with it's

lovely long lashes but it's not so lovely teeth.Rory and Spencer climbed aboard the very tall camel for a ride. They really enjoyed it.

When the kids walked up to the window to see this guy he kept slapping

the glass at them. It was pretty funny.

These two anteaters were large and colorful. They were interesting.Nights we were really close while sharing a hotel room. But it was nice to see each other. Bedtime stories were cute and remind me of when my kids were small. It was a nice visit.

Backyard Beauties

Here are our tomato plants (trees?) They are growing so tall. We were afraid they would be all plant and no tomatoes but we are getting some good size tomatoes off of them now. We do love home grown tomatoes. Beauty # 2 One of the hummingbirds that come by. This one was chasing another one off this morning after I had just refilled their food.

A day at the Zoo

JT and I went to the North Carolina Zoo today. He was hesitant at first not wanting to take the 3 hr drive but after he got there he had a good time. This zoo is my favorite one. The animals are in spacious and shaded habitats and seem to be very healthy. It has nice shady paths to walk on and a tram you can ride if you want. It has cafe's and play areas for children. These ostridges are huge!!

These lions were snuggled together for a nice nap. Sweet huh?

JT's Graduation

Finally Made It!! Graduation was today, June 12, 2010 Now it's on to BYU Idaho.

Elmer was amazed at all the banners the school has. The gym looked good but the sound system was bad and couldn't understand most of the talking.
